COMMUNITY PROJECTS

Thank you for being here with us.

Like for so many millions of people around the world, the COVID-19 pandemic has been life-altering and plan-shattering — And we have been tremendously fortunate. Our small Red Torch team has had the opportunity to socially distance, stay home when possible and stay safe.

We are also grateful and proud to have been a part of community outreach, education and assistance efforts, working with Pacific Islanders in Oregon and nationally. We have worked with excellent local nonprofit organizations including Living Islands, UTOPIA PDX, the Oregon Pacific Islander Coalition and Empowering Pacific Islander Communities as well as the Multnomah County and Washington County Health Departments and Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center and Foundation.

Since the spring of 2020, Red Torch has created social media content connecting Pacific Islanders with COVID-19 safety and personal assistance resources - including informational videos on COVID-19 testing. We have helped create Census-Awareness content for under-counted AAPI communities, and shot and translated a series of videos encouraging COVID-19 Safety and Solidarity into seven (and counting) Pacific Islands languages.

In 2021, Red Torch has been in production on a series of short social media-centric videos showcasing members of Pacific Islander communities’ experiences getting the COVID-19 Vaccine.

While much of the work we planned for 2020 and beyond was interrupted, we are proud and grateful to have become a part of these grassroots efforts towards safety, education and community connection in an otherwise difficult and isolating time.

Thank you for taking this journey with us.
